I earned a Masters in Designed Objects from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2009. There, I developed a hands-on, conceptual and iterative approach to designing the things that surround us. I like to play with new processes & natural materials, and have worked consistently with clay, and inconsistently with textiles, printing, and metals over the years. I often look to sculpture, architecture & fashion for inspiration, and love bringing unexpected elements like scale or material into new contexts.

I continue to work in clay, and in Fall/Winter 2014 - released a line of handcrafted ceramic jewelry as Great Plain - an homage to my home state of Nebraska and its simple depth of beauty.

My design practice also greatly informed my role co-teaching Product Design 3 for two terms at Art Center College of Design. In the course, we facilitated students in the process of bringing generative research to ideation, through development, and into prototyping of designed products. My goal was to challenge students to create a strong & unique concept, poetically designed for the user’s experience.
